Traditional Practices + Modern Technology= Honua
I am loving my Beauty Heroes subscription! I have truly enjoyed each "discovery" I have received, and they have each been a unique revelation for me. I think the Founder and I, Jeannie Jarnot, would be fast friends! She has a keen eye for quality and really pursues the heart behind each brand, not just the novelty. If you haven't jumped on board with Beauty Heroes yet, seriously, you need to.
It is rare that my skin responds so quickly to a product. I typically try a line for a few weeks to get a feel for what it can do, and to do my research. I knew I would like this line almost immediately--I just didn't realize my skin would share my sentiment.
Honua Skincare was born in 2015, as a way to share natural aesthetics and love of Hawaiian culture. It's founder, Kapua Browning was born and raised in Oahu and is an avid surfer who spent most of her younger years on the beach. After noticing sun damage when in her early 20's, Kapua discovered a new found passion--skincare--and began studying as an esthetician. Kapua then found a way to formulate a hand-crafted brand that skillfully blends Hawaiian tradition and modern technology, filled of course, with plenty of Aloha.
I loved the simple, yet creative packaging. The raw cardboard boxes unfold into a deconstructed box, with all the info you need to dig right in. I love the simple elegance of the packaging, and the fact that the goodies themselves are housed in black frosted glass with transparent labels. So classy and chic!
The featured product, the Aloha Youth Serum, was an instant love. I love me some creamy oils lately, and this one did not disappoint! Designed to smooth, brighten and hydrate the skin--this deliciously creamy oil was an instant relief to my skin that has seen much more sun than usual lately.
I applied one full pump into my palm, then massaged into my face and decollate'. My skin drank it in, and immediately had a gorgeous hydrated glow that lasted for hours! I have tried this before bed and in the daytime, and don't really have a preference. I have been doing both because my skin looks so dang pretty!
Some of the beneficial ingredients include:

The "sidekick" as Beauty Heroes likes to showcase, is the Ōlena Turmeric Beauty Oil. This multi-tasking oil smells like a fresh turmeric root, which my husband can't stand...but I love a good cup of Golden Milk before bed, and that's what this reminded me of! It was designed to address a myriad of skin issues, and my skin has been particularly hormonal lately. I loved that my skin was nourished, my coloring was balanced and my hormonal blemishes found some respite.

You can use these Honua Skincare beauties alone, or layered--which is my preference. I have learned that brands typically tend to formulate wholistically, so I like to used their products in conjunction when it works for me,
